1) I am not sure the evidence shows Mexico is trying to win the US's favor. The response to the tariffs (sending troops to the border) wasn't really anything new. Some believe it was just a way to get Trump to forget about Mexico for a bit.
2) The conversation about Chinese tech is kind of vague. Huawei sure but there are Chinese televisions, air conditioners, and other things all over the US.
Not to mention Huawei is used all around the world now: https://fortune.com/asia/2024/07/03/pentagon-huawei-ban-national-defense-authorization-act/. Sovereign nations may begin asking why companies linked to China are worse than American companies also linked to the US government, especially as Trump undermines trust in US leadership by talking about annexing nearby countries.
Given American politics right now, it may be a more realistic approach for more individuals to study Spanism and look for more business ideas to build relationships between the US and Mexico. American tech companies should invest more in Mexico offering better deals.
Making demands while also doing things like changing the Gulf of Mexico will in the long run lead to problems, especially if South America can develop better over the next decade (partially due to Chinese investments).
